“Jade started working at our hotel’s front desk and serving breakfast when she was 16. I’ve always known that my daughter was really interested in the well-being of others and had a true penchant for working in a job based on human relationships.
Even though I was convinced that she was made for hospitality and tourism management, I let her go to a general Business School after she graduated from high school. She wasn’t ready to specialize yet.
And believe it or not, the school’s secretary advised her to take the Vatel entrance exam after she graduated with her Bachelor’s. Jade really wanted to keep working with us at the week-ends at the Hotel des Princes. As our hotel is located in Chambery, in the French Savoy region, she quite naturally applied to Vatel Lyon for their Foundation year course.
I saw that my daughter quickly became more mature. Having concrete projects and applying what she already knew in the School restaurant helped her become aware of all the jobs that exist in the hospitality industry. After she did her first Vatel internship at the Four Seasons in Cyprus, she knew what she wanted to do in the future: she’d work in the hospitality industry and do everything necessary to have a great career.
Jade loved her MBA Vatel. The courses were really thorough and she met others who shared her passion for jobs in this field.
When I think of the Internet site, “Sejours Chambery", that she designed for us in her 4th year in the Computer, Marketing and Tourism Hotel Strategy course, I know that she’s really ready to work in this demanding profession.
From specialization to specialization…
Thanks to this new line on her resume, she was accepted for her final internship at the head office of the Societe des Bains de Mer in Monaco. Another challenge for her, and I hope, a springboard for her career.
I’m sure that she’ll remain in contact with most of her professors and hospitality professionals who came to the campus. She has always talked about them enthusiastically and with pride, telling me about what they did in their full-time jobs, other than giving courses at Vatel. They not only shared their know-how, but also their past and present experiences, giving her a global overview of their professions. “ Jasmine Perrenes
