Vatel Istanbul, the conference organizer, was elected the best Eurhodip school of 2019
In the 2019 program:
Five conferences and inspiring subjects for the field of tourism
Conferences, the highlight of the event, allow participants to address the stakes of this profession. Some of the subjects: how to promote a destination undergoing a crisis by Tunç Batum, the Hilton Resort Dalaman General Manager; how to change perceptions tourists have by overturning biases by Merve Özkök, the Deputy Director of the Japanese tour operator H.I.S.
Christo Kaftandjiev, a professor at the University of Sophia in Bulgaria, spoke about the impact of new technologies for the hospitality and tourism industries, whereas Elif Candas Emiroglu, a professor at Vatel Istanbul and Cluster Marketing Manager at Divan Hotels and Resorts, lectured about changes in teaching hotel management courses. Chef Aylin Yazicioglu, who owns Restaurant Nicole in Istanbul spoke about changes in gastronomy schools.
The Start-Up Challenge for students from all over the world
Pierre-Antoine Dubuis, the Vatel Switzerland Head of Studies and a Eurhodip member, organized the Start-Up Challenge where students of 11 different nationalities and 12 Eurhodip member schools participated. The Challenge addressed this question: “How can we increase the share of direct online reservations for The Marmara Collection Worldhotels ?”
The winning team, as for all the others taking part in the Challenge, was a great example of international diversity: Mert Ercan Bulut from the Eastern Mediterranean University in Northern Cyprus; Alina Muller from the Hotel und Tourismusmanagement Schule in Germany; Erion Prendi from Anko Rhodes, Greece; Alexandra Bazhenova from Vatel Moscow Russia and Carine Violina from Vatel Switzerland.
“For me this Start-Up Challenge was a really rewarding experience,” said Carine Violina, a Vatel Switzerland student and member of the winning team. “What I liked the best is when we were all brainstorming with the other students working on the subject: we all had different ideas and points of view, it was really exciting!”
A video competition to present schools
Students from Eurhodip member schools were invited to make a video that presented their school. Many of them also went outside of their schools to find tools and solutions to produce this video.
