Who are the future executives in the hospitality industry?

In the 21st Global Lodging Forum debates, the young generation of hotel managers is the subject of many a conversation.

Hospitality business schools are constantly seeking to adapt themselves to reflect the many changes in this industry.

In the 21st edition of the Global Lodging Forum, held on April 10 and 11, 2017 at the Pullman Paris Montparnasse Hotel, five professionals from the hospitality industry spoke about new managerial models, the characteristics of the X/Y Generations and the changes in curriculum to remain in line with realities in the market.

Selected quotations here:

“For me it’s so exciting to work with your people and its simple. The pay check is far from being their primary motivation. They also need to feel linked to each other and have a possibility of being promoted. We give multiple experiences to young professionals.” Michel Morauw, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile

“The new generations who arrive on the job market need to be considered as integral parts of the company. You have to attract these young adults and promise them high responsibility jobs. It’s up to us to propose training sessions to keep our talents with us.” Camille Oliva, Talent Recruitment & Administrative HR Specialist, Hotel Marriott Champs ElyséesVatelien, class of 2014

"We try to review the courses every 18 months or every year for their content. The X and Y generations zap quickly and need to find an interest in what they’re being taught. There are basic and also a lot of hands-on content. We have 39 campuses with programs that are adapted according to where they are (especially for Law courses) and multicultural aspects are also very important for us.” Benjamin Garcia, the Vatel Group Academic Director
