Hello Ms. Raemdonck. Could you please give us a few facts and figures about the Starwood brand?

What advice for the future would you like to give to Vatel students who would like to work in Sales and Marketing?

- “Hands-on Mentality is Key!” Take the time to get to know each department in a hotel so that you’ll be able to experience the different specificities each one has.
- Stay informed about current events in the field and try to start working in a company as soon as possible.

 
What qualities and skills do students need to succeed in this department?

- An essential quality in these sectors is being empathetic to guests. Empathy allows you to understand what your customers need and expect, thus turning them into loyal customers.
- In addition to that, I’d say: autonomy, a critical and analytical spirit, a good organization and being able to take initiatives.

 
What jobs and career opportunities did you present to the students?

We gave a presentation on the “Vita and Futura Finance” program. This is about training for executive positions for newly graduated students in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
