This year, France will be represented at the Marianne Müller award competition by a student from Vatel.

The Marianne Müller competition is held in a different country every year. It gives students at one of the Eurhodip colleges an opportunity to spend a few days working with a multinational team on a case study and includes an oral presentation to the general assembly at the end of the stay.

Auriane Oustlant, our student, tells us how she sees her forthcoming involvement in the competition.

Why did you decide to enter the competition?

I’m inquisitive by nature and I like seizing opportunities when they come my way. When the college told us about the competition, I found out more about it and saw it as a real chance to extend my existing skills and discover new ones in the hotel and tourism sectors. The international dimension attracted me right away. Having an opportunity to talk to students and professionals of various nationalities is an incredible opportunity.

What do you think you will gain from the competition? What does it represent for you?

I think it will teach me something new. From a personal point of view, the competition will teach me more about myself and my approach to teamwork. I’ll be working and talking with foreign students whom I don’t know and whose culture and approach are different to mine. We’re going to have to learn to make use of our expertise and personal skills for the good of the team and complete a joint project. It’s a wonderful challenge! In fact, it’s what challenges are all about!

What if you win?

First of all, if I win, it will have been a team effort! I think I would be really proud to win but, if we don’t, it doesn’t matter. I’m already very lucky to be taking part in the competition, which is being held in Armenia this year. I’m delighted to have been selected (especially as I’m the first French student to have been chosen as an entrant). So I’ll do my best to win, with my team, but the trip itself is already a form of victory.
