INTERVIEW: Lucia Song was born in South Korea. She just finished her International MBA in Wine & Spirits Management at Vatel Bordeaux as the Valedictorian. She also obtained her certification in hotel management and her WSET diploma with honors. She’ll tell us about this process until her graduation and the strengths of Vatel and Vatel Bordeaux.
Why did you choose Vatel Bordeaux?
I started to learn French when I was little and of course, I wanted to study in France. I went to a student fair where I met the admissions manager for Vatel Nimes. In a few words I explained to her what I wanted and she recommended attending Vatel Bordeaux as I would be certified in international hotel management while specializing in wines and spirits. Everything went quickly. I barely had a month to prepare everything, but I don’t regret anything.
Why would you recommend Vatel Bordeaux?
Because Vatel Bordeaux is a school with a human dimension. I quickly had a good relationship with all the educational team members. Even now that I’ve graduated, the school still helps me.
Because the environment is very important for me. Vatel Bordeaux is located in the city center. It’s easy to get around. Bordeaux is a safe, calm and well-organized city. Transportation is less expensive and less crowded than elsewhere.
Because wine tasting is an art that you learn at Vatel Bordeaux.
What are the strong points of this MBA inWine & Spirits Management?
With this MBA, you become a true expert who fully understands all the facets of the wine and spirits industry: production, packaging, distribution, marketing, organic wines, etc.
It’s all very useful to develop my future career which will be targeting wine and spirits.
We learn more about the history of wine and the passion that French people havefor good wine. And I now share this passion.
You are the 2016-2017 MBA Wine &Spirits Management valedictorian. What do you feel about this distinction?
I’m really proud of myself! I thus prove the love I have for the world of wine. I’ve been first place in my class since my third year of Bachelor studies. But in Korea, I struggled at school in spite of my efforts and my motivation. Everything changed in France and I’ve got the impression that I’ve finally found my place.
Today, I’m looking for a job in the field of wine and spirits in Bordeaux.
