First edition of "Afterwork" – talking about internships!

Evening event about foreign internships.

Return

International experience is fundamental for Vatel. Students in the 2nd year of their bachelor's programme, or preparing admission to a master's degree course, spend 4 months learning about another culture. Master's students can also undertake their obligatory 6-month internship in a foreign country.  Every Vatel school assists students in finding internships, providing personalised follow-up, helping them to define their project, and choosing host establishments.

A group of students taking Master's degree preparatory courses came up with the idea of organising an evening event to put people about to go on a foreign internship in touch with others who have just come back from one.

The event took place on Tuesday, 4 February at Molly Malone's, an Irish pub near the school. Success was immediate! Dialogue was fast and furious from 6 pm until midnight between students just back from their foreign experience and those due to leave. Thanks to labels, students could easily see where other students had either been to or wished to go.

Many students found the answers to their questions while others simply enjoyed the convivial atmosphere bringing together people from different classes. For instance, Clémence came away relieved that she had, in fact, made the right choice about her internship in Polynesia thanks to feedback from M4 and M5 students, while M2 students enjoyed mixing with everyone.

Agathe Etchepare, who was behind this event, was thanked throughout the evening for her excellent idea.  This "afterwork" was also an opportunity for students to share their experiences at Vatel and to discuss organising future events.
