Vatel, a rock and roll school!

The Hard Rock Cafe in Lyon, which has been open now for a month, is owned by two Vateliens, 1 other associate and even two MBA student interns.

Everyone who’s familiar with the Grôlée district must be overjoyed to see that a Hard Rock Cafe just opened.

And whose idea was this? Two young entrepreneurs from Lyon, Mathieu Cochard and Thibault Salvat who met as students at Vatel Lyon and who graduated in 2008.

After beginning their professional lives abroad, the two Vateliens decided to come back to Lyon, bringing a lot of rock and roll and above all, lots of experience with them, in their suitcases.

Since they returned to Lyon in August, 2015, they’ve been preparing for the grand opening of the 1,200 m2 facility that opened on October 30, 2016 and that will be open every day of the week.

Students and Vatel alumni sought

Hard Rock LyonAnd to support them in this great adventure, Mathieu and Thibaut decided to work with their Vatelien friends, such as Kevin Tessieux, the Administration and Sales Manager of the Domaine des Deux Roches and official supplier of the Hard Rock white and rose vintages.

A 2007 graduate, Kevin Tessieux is also a professor in Operational Management and Marketingat Vatel Lyon and Vatel Nimes.

Without forgetting Dylan Fraioli and Agathe Robert, two Vatel Lyon students who arrived in June 2016 to do their 4th year six-month internship and who were rapidly entrusted with multiple responsibilities in promoting the Hard Rock Cafe.

Make no mistake, there will be a lot of our students and Vatel alumni in this Hard Rock Cafe

Because, to boot: “A detail that has its importance in this venue with our 2.0 philosophy, with its gigantic screens and its Ipads a bit everywhere, our Wi-fi is free and it works!” said Mathieu Cochard with a smile.

The Lyon Hard Rock Cafe has:

  • a concert hall (and many free concerts),
  • a conference room in the basement,
  • a wine and spirits tasting room,
  • a boutique and
  • a bistro style gourmet restaurant seating 230.

And the Hard Rock souvenirs that are presented in the various cafes have unheard of collections put together by the founders: one of Eric Clapton’s guitars, one of Miley Cyrus’s dresses, one of David Bowie’s shirts...
