Learning through experience, in the heart of Bordeaux

Located in the city centre, the school has a restaurant, a hotel and spaces dedicated to seminars. These professional structures offer students a unique and immersive learning environment in real situations. You will develop essential skills in human resources management, decision-making and operational management.

The course alternates academic teaching in management and practical application in the professions that you will be leading tomorrow.

At Vatel Bordeaux, three privileged places of experimentation allow students to train in real conditions and acquire solid expertise in the hotel and restaurant industry. 

Try, innovate, learn in real situation

50% of the pedagogy dedicated to field experience

How to effectively recruit a maître d'hôtel? How can the working conditions of women and valets be improved? What solutions can be put in place to reduce food waste in the kitchen?

At Vatel Bordeaux, learning is based on action. By observing, experimenting and sometimes making mistakes, the student has an in-depth understanding of the hotel and restaurant industry and the interactions between each department.

During the three years of the Bachelor's degree, the program alternates weeks of theoretical courses (management, marketing, human resources, law, etc.) and weeks of professional immersion in Vatel or partner institutions. The students thus practice in different positions, with real customers, to prepare themselves for the managerial responsibilities they will assume tomorrow.

 

Try, innovate, learn in real situation

From the first year, students are immersed in a concrete professional environment, in direct contact with a demanding and international clientele. They discover different departments (accommodation, reception, catering, events, etc.), just as they try their hand at different professions, and they put their skills into practice.

A progressive path to hotel management

Vatel's pedagogy is based on a step-by-step increase in skills, with increasing responsibilities entrusted to the student each year:

  • 1st year: Discovery of operational missions in accommodation, catering and reception services, those that you will later entrust to your employees.
  • 2nd year: Discovery of support professions by taking a first managerial step, you supervise part of the team and develop your management skills.
  • 3rd year: Taking charge of managerial missions, you take responsibility for a team and perfect your leadership.

Vatel Bordeaux's goal is simple: to gradually give each student more autonomy, know-how and self-confidence, while being accompanied by expert teachers and experimenting directly with real professionals and clients.
